From Lighten Up to the Birmingham Half Marathon

Soon after Eddie Duddy retired, he realised he’d put on a lot of weight.

Eddie suffers from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), so when he realised the extra pounds were making his breathing difficulties worse, he went to his GP – who put him in touch with Gateway’s Lighten Up service.

In the year he’s been with us, Eddie’s lost just under four stone – and on Sunday, he faces his biggest challenge yet: the Birmingham Half Marathon.

In this video, Eddie explains how Lighten Up helped him to access Weight Watchers and the Birmingham Be Active service, as well as helping him manage his lifestyle changes … and how a Weight Watchers class full of women wasn’t as intimidating as he thought it would be!
