This new month brings changes at Gateway Family Services (GFS), with Jo Harper, the Head of Operations, taking over as Chief Executive. Jo is a familiar face at GFS, having worked for the organisation since 2009. During the past year, she has displayed significant drive and energy as she has undertaken the difficult task of integrating different services at GFS; it is this commitment, together with her experience and strategic vision, that makes her the strongest candidate to lead GFS in the next stages of its development.
Jo will be joined by her role successor Craig Hargreaves, a new and very welcome addition to the team. Throughout his operations career, he has worked for various organisations, including the PDSA and the British Heart Foundation. He has a broad and extensive experience within the industry. His insights include operational and eCommerce activity, business continuity, marketing, and fundraising, which will be very valuable for us.
These are positive times for GFS. As one of the City’s longest-established CICs, we continue to deliver established pieces of work like the Solihull Lifestyle Service and Social Prescribing. We also see work like expanding the Maternity Voices Partnerships (responsible for provision across the Black Country now) and deepening our focus on specific geographies (leading both Edgbaston Early Help and the Neighbourhood Network Scheme) whilst always maintaining our core focus of reducing health inequalities and supporting emerging needs, more important than ever at the moment.
We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank our departing Chief Executive, Katherine Hewitt. Under her leadership, Gateway is an organisation in great shape, and we look forward to this new phase of our work. Good luck and best wishes, Katherine.
