You know how life can sometimes feel like it’s standing still — even though everything around you keeps moving? That’s where Tariq (name changed), a man in his late thirties from Solihull, found himself when he first met with our Wellbeing Coach.
He had been signed off work with severe anxiety and stress after a workplace investigation that left him feeling drained and defeated. The uncertainty of his future, combined with a difficult relationship and the loss of his creative outlet — music — made each day feel heavier than the last. Once full of energy and focus, Tariq now felt stuck and disconnected from the things that once gave him joy.
The coach created a calm and non-judgemental space for Tariq to talk openly about what was happening. Through active listening, reflection, and gentle coaching, they began to unravel his thoughts — separating what he could control from what he couldn’t. Together, they built a simple structure for moving forward, anchored by small, meaningful goals.
Journaling became a key part of that process. Tariq used it to reflect on his anxiety, recognise patterns, and express emotions he had long suppressed. Paired with practical coaching tools — from affirmations to “can/can’t control” lists and visual goal-setting — he began to feel clearer, calmer, and more confident about the future.
Physically, he took small but consistent steps by returning to the gym once a week. Emotionally, the focus turned to self-compassion and resilience, helping him reconnect with his strengths rather than his fears.
Over time, a shift took place. Tariq began applying for new jobs, rediscovered his passion for music, and chose to focus on personal growth rather than maintaining an unfulfilling relationship. Within weeks, he secured a new role that gave him a renewed sense of purpose.
By the fourth session, Tariq felt that the “fog” had lifted. He no longer needed the full six sessions — he had the clarity, insight, and motivation he had been searching for.
He thanked the coach for creating the space and offering the tools that helped him rebuild his confidence. His journey is a reminder that progress often begins with small acts of courage — and that with the right guidance, clarity always follows.
